Slovakia’s Construction Chamber is pushing for the creation of a separate Ministry of Construction and Regional Development. It argues that given the importance of the construction sector to the economy, it requires clear legislation and management by its own government ministry. The chamber warns that the current construction law is unstable from a legislative point of view, is confusing and is difficult to use in practice. The Chamber of construction is also seeking a new, more progressive law on urban development which it claims does not allow cities to plan their growth effectively. It claims that the lack of such a law has reduced the planning process to merely solving the current problems of investors.
