Slovaks to be allowed to defer loan payments

8 April 2020

Slovak citizens and medium sized companies will be able to defer loan payments for up to nine months according to a bill that’s making its way through parliament. Those who make use of the option will not be included in the registry of debtors. The only requirement for applicants is that they can’t be more than 30 days behind in their payments as of the day of submitting their request. Banks will have thirty days to approve these requests, which can be made in written or in digital form, and they are required to inform their clients of any impact that would have on the original loan agreement, including changes to the agreed interest rate to be paid.
