The Slovenian parliament has passed a new package of state aid to temper the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The new aid, which is worth around €1bn, includes subsidies for salaries and the distribution of tourist vouchers has been legalized.
More than €360m in free vouchers will be issued and given to all residents, with adult vouchers to be worth €200, and the ones for minors worth €50. They will be valid until the end of the year in Slovenian hotels, the idea being to promote domestic tourism since significantly fewer foreign tourists are expected this year. Typically, foreigners make up two-thirds of all overnight stays in Slovenian hotels.
