Construction on a new polyethylene factory will break ground in Bratislava at the start of 2013 under the oversight of the Slovak oil company Slovnaft, which is part of the Hungarian oil company MOL Group. The factory is going up thanks to a $150m loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The investment will increase the factory’s annual capacity by 40,000 tons, giving it a total capacity of 220,000 tons. The loan lasts for eight years. The factory is scheduled for completion in 2015.
