Prices for homes of up to 60 sqm have dropped the fastest of any category in recent years, according to the latest research carried out by the real estate portal Fotocasa. The study indicates that units of less than 60 sqm fell 51 percent in price since peaking in 2007, while those of up to 100 sqm dropped 50 percent.
The study shows that the price of larger dwellings have declined not such drastically over the past nine years. With large units of 100 sqm to 150 sqm, prices crashed 41 percent, but just 29 percent for those measuring between 151 sqm and 300 sqm. According to the Fotocasa, smaller apartments cost an average of €3,424 per sqm in 2007, more than any other size group. Today, the most expensive flats (as measured by €/sqm) are those measuring between 150 sqm to 300 sqm.
