Sokolov town bought the building of a former hygienic station in the city center for CZK 20 million from the state. The town hall was afraid that a hostel would be built there. It will now look for use, announced Mayor Renata Oulehlová (YES).

“When we found out that the former district hygiene station would go to auction, we were scared because Sokolov has problems with people who make money on the poorest, so we were afraid that someone would buy it and turn it into a hostel,” she said. In the end, after a long negotiation, the city could buy the building directly, without any obligations.

The empty multi-storey building, which also has garages, is in a popular location near the park. There are offices with social facilities. According to the mayor, it is preserved, it does not need an expensive reconstruction.

However, the town hall has postponed the reconstruction until the situation on the construction market calms down. In the future, there could be, for example, doctor’s surgeries, which are missing in the city, or the background of contributory organizations. City organizations are located in different buildings, so they would unite into one place. Employees of sheltered workshops, who are now based in unsuitable premises, could also find facilities here.
