Solt gets new biogas plant

A new biogas plant is going up in the city of Solt, the Hungarian media is reporting. The plant is expected to provide as much as 2.23 millions tons of biogas annually to the Hungarian energy market. The project is a part of the New Széchenyi Plan, financed by the EU, which is providing up to HUF 1bn for the construction of the project. The new plant will reportedly generate 4,240 megawatt-hours of green power from the biogas and 4,800 megawatt-hours of thermal energy from the organic resources available in the country. This project could help reduce green gas emissions by 13.45 tons annually.
