Sopot residents produce more than Warsaw’s population

2 April 2012

According to Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) Warsaw produced PLN 4,854 income per capita in 2010, but this is significantly less than the Baltic city of Sopot where the figure is PLN 6,509m. This means that while Warsaw counts as the richest Polish city, its population comes in second in terms of actual per capita output. In terms of total volume, of course, Warsaw is in a different league than the northern Polish town, with annual revenues 30 times higher. Sopot’s biggest advantage, however, is that on average, 125 in 1,000 living in the region have set up their own businesses.
