South Florida construction starts fall 33% in July

A new report from Dodge Data & Analytics states that overall construction starts in South Florida fell 33 percent in July to $890 million. Both new residential and commercial starts were down, with commercial starts dropped 20 percent to $472 million compared to the same period last year, while residential starts declined 44 percent to $418 million. Year to date overall spending has only fallen by 4 percent to $6.6 billion from $6.8 billion at the same time last year. While commercial building has increased 37 percent to $3.5 billion from January to July this year, residential construction fell to $3 billion, down 29 percent from $4.3 billion.
