After the Brno assembly rejected Amazon’s bid to build a 100,000 sqm warehouse in the Černovická industrial zone on Tuesday, South Moravian regional governor Michal Hašek started looking for another location for the US-based e-retailer. Hašek already has a location in mind: an unused industrial zone in Blučiny near Brno. The 55 ha industrial zone is located along the D2 motorway, 20 km from the Brno airport. However, the mayor of the village Josef Srnec said that he does not want a giant warehouse in his backyard. But the regional governor claims that the regional assembly will greenlight the investment.
Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka also asked Industry Minister Jan Mládek and CzechInvest to look for suitable locations.
