A design by the architect Souto de Moura has been made public for a new residential building on Lisbon’s famous Flowers Square. The five-floor project would replace an existing building that is seriously dilapidated. The Pritzker Prize winner says the new building will use “an actual architectural language” which he claims will create a better relationship with the scale of the neighboring buildings, while its use of aluminum and iron materials will recall the metal balconies used in the 19th century.
