The Spanish Government will launch a two-year housing rehabilitation plan that will involve an investment of around €2bn in collaboration with the private sector that should generate 221,000 jobs. The program aims to quadruple the number of flats that are renovated each year in Spain to roughly 120,000. At the moment, only 30,000 are returned to use each year. The objective is to improve the volume and condition of the housing stock, while making improvement its energy efficiency. The government is also hoping to tackling the crisis by promoting construction, as this type of investment has immediate economic benefits.
