Hudson Companies along with partners Gilbane Development and the Mutual Housing Association of New York have won a tender to redevelop the now-shuttered Spofford Juvenile Detention Center into a $300 million affordable housing complex. Located in the Bronx, the project will be named the Peninsula. Units would be made available for households making between 30 and 90 percent of Area Median Income. The scheme calls for 740 units of affordable housing, 52,000 sqf of recreational space and 49,000 sqf. of light industrial space. There will also be 21,000 sqf of retail space and 48,000 sqf dedicated to community facilities as well as a grocery store and other services.The complex is slated for completion in 2024.
