St. Augustine’s Vilano Pier rehab put off until September

25 February 2015

The Vilano Pier rehabilitation project has been delayed until after St. Augustine celebrates its 450th anniversary. St. Johns county officials had planned to close the pier in March for renovations, but they’ve decided to wait until September to repair the pier. The main purpose of the $900,000 project is to strengthen the existing structure which some city officials estimate can only last for another three to five year lifespan. The pier renovations are now schedule to begin sometime after September 8th.
