The Swiss Stadler Rail Group has embarked on a major expansion of its factory in Szolnok in central Hungary, in a HUF 3.5bn investment. Stadler is also considering moving several other industrial sites in Hungary, but this will only happen if itâs able to pick up new orders from the Hungarian market for new rolling stock.
The Hungarian railway company MĂV, hasnât ordered new train wagons since 2007, but this could be about to change, with reports that it will be holding a tender for 42 new trains. Stadlerâs new HUF 1.6bn investment is expected to create 230 new jobs. If Stadler were to win the upcoming tender, additional investments could be made as well.
