State sells historic building in central Prague for CZK 790m

1 October 2015

A historical complex on nám. Republiky in central Prague was sold in an auction on Wednesday for CZK 790m. The state sold the property to a foreigner, whose name and plans for the building have not been disclosed. The auction attracted three bidders, who paid the auction security, but only one of them took part in the auction, which was over in five minutes. The former monastery was refurbished into offices for use by the state until recently. In June, the last officials left the building. Property experts question the high price for the property, given the need for a thorough refurbishment.
