State to offload remaining stake in Czech Airlines

10 April 2015

The Czech state plans to offload its remaining 19-percent holding in the Czech national airline carrier. The head of Český aeroholding, the mother company of Czech Airlines, Václav Řehoř, explained that the state should not own companies that operate on a strongly competitive market. The plan still needs to be approved by the government and the airline’s majority shareholder, Korean Air. Český aeroholding hopes that the private air carrier Travel Service, which recently acquired a 34-percent stake in Czech Airlines, might buy the remaining 19 percent. Korean Air will keep its 44-percent stake in the air carrier.
