The Board of Trustees of Broward College has given the go ahead to Stiles Corp. to build a Class A office building on the school’s property in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The lease and pre-development agreement will allow the developer to build a 14 story office tower of 401,857 square feet, with 17,500 sqf of ground floor retail and restaurants, and an undetermined number of parking spaces at 225 E. Las Olas Blvd. Dubbed Two Zero One Las Olas, the project will also result in a 5,400 sqf public plaza with event space, a multimedia screen and a community room. The scheme still awaits approval by the city.
“We want to develop an iconic office building here,” Stiles said. “This will be the catalyst to move the epicenter of Las Olas to the west with completion of this project and the [residential] project to the north, Kolter [condo/hotel] project to the southwest and the Residences of Las Olas behind the old Sun Sentinel.”
