Glass manufacturer Stirom Bucharest is unlikely to achieve its profit targets for 2014 following losses suffered in the first quarter of the year. After posting a loss for the first six months of the year, company executives are now slashing their overall 2014 profit prediction by a third of original estimates. Business fell by 2 percent to RON 93.6m (€21.27m) in the first half of the year. The company said its losses were do to costs related to replacing its glass melting furnaces, and to the drop in sales that resulted.
