In a contract worth €39m, Strabag was tapped to build an art storage center in Budapest. The complex of five buildings, offering 37,000 sqm, will form part of the city’s National Museum Restoration and Storage Centre (OMRRK) and will provide storage space for more than 350,000 pieces of artwork from the Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Hungarian National Gallery. The complex will also feature a visitor center, including auditoriums and a cafeteria, as well as underground parking. One building will be dedicated to research, with archive space and offices as well as a library, lecture halls and meeting rooms. Completion is scheduled for mid-2018.
