Strabag to prepare zone for Jaguar in Nitra

6 January 2016

Slovakia will invest €123m into the preparation of Strategic Park Nitra where Jaguar Land Rover is to build its new production facility. The state originally expected to spend €135m on the 733 ha industrial zone. The state-owned company facilitating the work MH Invest has chosen Strabag Pozemné a inžinierské stavitelstvo from four bidders in a tender to oversee construction. Jaguar is expected to invest GBP 1.1bn into the plant and create 2,800 jobs. The facility is scheduled for completion in 2018, and should produce 150,000 cars annually. In the long term, production is expected to double.

Court proceedings are currently underway to determine the validity of claims made by the original land owners who sold their holdings to a land developer cheaply before the state announced the plans for the zone.
