Strategic Property Partners has kicked off construction on the first phase of its Water Street Tampa project. Located at the intersection of Channelside Drive and Water Street, the mixed-use scheme will offer 420 residential units in two towers. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the 21- and 26-story towers will be connected by 35,000 sq ft of retail space and five levels of parking. Communal area amenities will include an outdoor pool, fitness center, community kitchen and bar and club lounge on the roof. The developer also intends to build a 700,000 sq ft office tower within Water Street Tampa and an upscale 500-room hotel that will be connected to the Marriott Waterside Hotel. Completion is schedule for the end of 2020.
The development “is truly mixed-use to the extent that while it is ultimately a residential offering, a focus on a strong ground-floor retail experience was a primary consideration, ensuring that it was interwoven into the fabric of the building and the Water Street Tampa neighborhood,” said Rebecca Snyder, senior vice president of residential development at Strategic Property Partners.
