Stropnický to lead Czech Green Party

25 January 2016

Matěj Stropnický, the former deputy mayor of Prague for city planning, was elected head of the Green Party. He beat the mayor of Prague 4, Petr Štěpánek, during the election congress over the weekend. Stropnický will lead the party for two years, with a goal on winning more votes in regional and parliamentary elections. Stropnický hopes he will be able to take votes from the Social Democrats and the ANO party. He pointed out that he is not a centrist politician. “The Greens are a radical party, and we have to stir up interest instead of indolence,” he said.
