Shanghai Urban Construction Group (SUCG) is interested in building the planned cross-city suspended highway for the Romanian capital, according to Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu.
Oprescu and representatives from the Chinese construction company are discussing the possibility of a public-private partnership project as well as the possibility of forming a Chinese consortium for the entire project implementation. The new road will be 13.15 km long and will include bridges and subterranean passages. The completion date is currently set for 2016.
SUCG has an annual turnover of €5bn and specializes in infrastructure work and construction of bridges and tunnels.
