A new rail connection between the Smíchov railway station in Prague 5 with the main railway station in Prague 1 is to be built. The national railway operator SŽDC signed a contract with Sudop Praha to design the connection of the third railway corridor with central Prague. Sudop will prepare planning documentation and will design a new train station, Praha Výtoň, and prepare documentation for the reconstruction of the bridge across the Vltava river near the Vyšehrad castle. Sudop won the tender with a CZK 29m bid, while SŽDC estimated the price would be CZK 39m. General director of Sudop Tomáš Slavíček told the server e15 that the price they offered hardly covers the costs, but the company has been forced to reduce its bid because railway projects are scarce. Sudop Praha won the tender through a consortium with Metroprojekt and Sudop EU. Construction could start in 2021.
