Suzuki upgrades its plant in Hungary

The Hungarian subsidiary of Japanese carmaker Suzuki is planning to upgrade its current Hungarian facility in Esztergom. The company will focus chiefly on upgrading the plant’s production and logistics system as well preparing the plant for the introduction of laser welding techniques. The cost of the deal is HUF 5.3bn, of which HUF 2.71bn will be financed by Suzuki and the remaining HUF 2.59bn by a European Union grant. Suzuki’s Hungarian unit produced €1.97bn in sales in 2015, up 28 percent compared to 2014.
