Symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for Amazon distribution centre in Giengen

30 June 2021

The starting signal has been given for the construction of the distribution centre for Amazon in Giengen an der Brenz (in Baden-Württemberg): as part of a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony, the realisation of the project, which is of great importance for the vibrant city in the district of Heidenheim, officially began yesterday. Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH and Honold Logistik Gruppe are jointly developing a logistics property with a warehouse area of around 5,800 sqm for the world’s largest online retailer. In addition, there will be 2,000 sqm for offices and social rooms. Completion is scheduled for April next year.

Independently of the distribution centre for Amazon, both partners are developing a further 23,000 sqm property on the 78,000 sqm site in the “Giengen Industrial Park A7”. This construction phase will be realised without fixed rental commitments and is scheduled for completion in June 2022. The two project partners are investing a total of around 58 million euros in the Giengen site.
