SZDC wants Amadeus to walk away from Prague 6 land deal

6 December 2018

The new boss of SZDC, the company that maintains the physical infrastructure of Czech Railways, is looking for a way to back out of a land deal with the developer Amadeus Real. The developer agreed with the previous director Pavel Sury to buy the land around the Dejvicka train station. SZDC’s new director Jiří Svoboda is hoping to convince Amadeus to forget about the deal because of plans to build a tunnel under the location as part of a planned new route to Kladno. “We’d like state property to serve primarily the state and not just for development projects,” he said. For its part, Amadeus has no intention of just walking away from the deal. “We still don’t know the reasons for cancelling the countract and we continue to be prepared to fulfill our obligations under it,” said Karel Samec, a representative of Amadeus Real.
