Tallinnites begin to move to the suburbs

In Estonia, a popular city center address has long been a desire of home buyers. However, according to Peep Sooman from real estate company Pindi Kinnisvara this is now shifting. He says that previously popular areas in and around the city center, such as Kalamaja are now being replaced by areas on the edge of the city such as Peetri, Saue, Saku and Kiili. He said this was due to the popularity of new builds, which are primarily being built on the edge of the city and the difficulty to gain a home loan in city center locations as a result of inflated prices. Along with other experts, Sooman agrees that continued price rises such as the 7 percent increase seen between May and June are not sustainable and he expects to see a price fall.
