The third part of Tchibo’s distribution center was opened in Cheb yesterday. Thanks to the expansion by another 30,000 sqm, the center has grown to more than 100,000 sqm. The hall thus became the largest industrial building completed this year in the Czech Republic.
Until now, the Tchibo center in Cheb has served exclusively as a B2C center for the Tchibo e-shop, for the delivery of goods directly to customers. After expansion and equipping with the planned technologies, it will take over part of the B2B logistics processes related to shops and Tchibo sales corners next year.
According to the mayor of Cheb Antonín Jalovec (VPM) Cheb, despite the high number of employees in the industrial zone, it does not suffer from significant problems in some cities with the behavior of especially agency employees after work or after their visa expires. “Employment has shifted towards regular employees and even those agency workers are inspected and are from credible agencies, which was sometimes not the case,” said Jalovec.
The completion of the third part of the hall for Tchibo has almost filled the capacity of part of the industrial park managed by Panattoni and its investment partner, Accolade. According to Panattoni boss Pavel Sovička, there is still room for further development. “We still have permission for the last hall in this phase of the industrial park. It will have about 100,000 sqm. We are in talks with several users and we believe that over the next year we could announce who would come here to the zone and tenants can still expand in their premises, “said Sovička.
According to Milan Kratina, CEO of Accolade, the investment in Cheb alone is close to three billion crowns, also thanks to the development of e-commerce. According to him, the Karlovy Vary region is thus becoming the center of this industry, which is on the rise.
