Google Cloud and Telefónica are joining forces to accelerate the digital transformation of Spanish companies under an agreement designed to support the Spanish public administration’s attempts to spur economic recovery. This alliance for the development of 5G networks is linked to the creation by Google Cloud of a new cloud region in Spain that will take advantage of Telefónica’s infrastructure in the Community of Madrid.
Telefónica’s infrastructure, combined with Google Cloud’s mobile edge platform, would strengthen the offer of 5G services for companies and consumers. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet said he wants to work with Spanish companies of all sizes to find new ways to innovate and grow and to contribute to the country’s economic recovery.
