Czech national railway operator SŽDC launched a tender to choose a project designer who will oversee reconstruction of the Fantova building at Prague’s main train station. The first phase will include renovating the facade, windows and roofs. The winner will be announced in April. The project, worth CZK 12m, should be completed before the end of this year.
SŽDC wants to modernize the devastated exterior and interior of the building next year but must first decide how it wants to use space in the future. SŽDC will launch another tender to find a contractor who will complete the documentation for the second phase of reconstruction, including a construction permit. Grandi Stazioni was supposed to renovate the Fantova building as part of its reconstruction of the Prague main train station, but SŽDC canceled the contract when the Italian company failed to complete the work on time.
