Tesco is having the industrial developer Segro build it a third Polish distribution center built. Segro will erect the new warehouse of more than 30,000 sqm in the Polish town of Komorniki, near Poznań. The news contradicts media speculation that Tesco was preparing to leave the country. The new facility will supply 140 stores Tesco operates in the southern and northwest regions of Poland. It’s due to go on-line in October, and will join Tesco’s distribution centers in Teresin and Gliwice. Cushman & Wakefield advised Tesco in the transaction.
“Thanks to attractive location of Segro’s ongoing park, the annual mileage truck of Tesco will reduce by 12.9 percent… enabling us to optimize our operations,” said Adam Manikowski, managing director of Tesco Polska. SEGRO Logistics Park Poznań – Komorniki, where the new distribution center is to be built, will offer more than 206,000 sqm of industrial real estate when completed.
“We observe the growing importance and potential of Wielkopolska region, therefore we plan to continue to expand our portfolio within this location,” adds, Magdalena Szulc, Business Unit SEGRO for Central Europe.
