Hot on the heels of tweeting that his company was overvalued, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk became involved in yet another tweetstorm when he threatened to move his factory to Texas in the companies operations in California were not allowed to open soon for business. Musk has become irate at the slow speed at which California is allowing the economy to restart as recovery from the first wave of the novel coronavirus continues. The San Diego assemblywoman named Lorena Gonzalez lit that powder keg, however, with the kind of tweet that a few local politicians generally dare send off to CEO high-tech superstars. “F*ck Elon Musk,” she tweeted.
Never one to back down from a challenge, it didn’t take long before Musk to respond with considerably more decorum, albeit with a hint of malice, “Message received”. The San Diego politician was upset by the announcement by Tesla that it would be suing Alameda County officials because they have stopped the electric car manufacturing company in from reopening. It complains that other manufacturers in the state have been given the green light to start production again, however health officials have not allow Tesla to open.
“I’m not messing around. Absurd & medically irrational behavior in violation of constitutional civil liberties, moreover by *unelected* county officials with no accountability, needs to stop,” tweeted Musk. Gonzalez justified her position by saying that California had subsidized Tesla in which she described as “a company that has always disregarded worker safety & well-being, has engaged in union busting & bullies public servants”. She admitted, however, that she might have been better served by expressing her frustration less aggressively.
