It’s being reported that Tesla is planning to build a new European design center in Berlin’s Gasometer, a former low-pressure gas container built in 1913 that currently serves as a start-up and research center for companies involved in mobility and sustainability. The electric car pioneer had made its intentions to build such a center in Europe public in the past, but it was previously thought that Berlin would only be the location for the company’s new Gigafactory, now under construction. Tesla’s only other design center is located in California, but the company is now also planning to open one in China. The Gasometer is an iconic structure in the Schonefeld district that was made popular in recent years as the venue for a popular television talk-show.
