6 July 2020

According to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro, foreigners bought €169.99m worth of real estate in 2019, which is €12.6 m less than a year earlier. Russians were involved in trades valued at €39m during the year, which was the same total as a year ago. Russians have been the leading buyers of real estate on the Montenegrin coast for years.

The second most active group of foreigners last year were Serbs, who spent €16.6m on Montenegrin real estate last year, or €2.1m more than in 2018. The result meant they pushed Turks back into third place, who were followed by Americans who completed €10.7m and by Germans, who traded property worth €10m.

There’s been a big increase in the number of Albanians buying property in Montenegro. Last year, they spent almost €2m, which was slightly less than the Austrians (€2.7m) and the Czechs (€2.8m).
