The construction industry has been facing significant increases in material costs for several months, which calls into question the transformation of the sector. Steel in particular, the raw material for many companies operating in construction, has undergone considerable price increases, making it difficult for manufacturers of roofs, metal halls or thermal insulation panels.
“We have witnessed substantial increases in raw materials specific to our industry, as well as situations of major delays in deliveries, which have affected our results,” says Adrian Porfir, administrator of the Romanian subsidiary of Joris Ide, a company that produces structures for hall , thermal insulation and sandwich panels.
But it is not just steel that is causing problems for construction materials manufacturers. Sarcom, a company active in the manufacture of varnishes and paints, also talks about the increase in the price of raw materials, but also about the increase in transport costs, especially for materials brought from China.
