Last week, the first edition of CIJ Awards Europe took place in one of the most beautiful halls in Prague: Slovanský Dům. CIJ Awards Europe honors exceptional projects, companies and individuals who have enjoyed made a fantastic job in 2015.
Romania was one of the four participating countries from which local winners were nominated at the CIJ Awards Europe, along with Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.
This first edition of CIJ Awards Europe brought Romania four prizes. AFI Romania won Best of the Best Office Development of the Year with AFI Park, a 70,000 sqm, fully-leased project developed in Bucharest with tenants that include Electronic Arts, Secure Works, Telus International, Microchip Technology, Endava Romania and Veeam Software.
The Best of the Best Retail Development of the Year awards was won by the 75,000 sqm shopping center Mega Mall developed by NEPI in eastern Bucharest. Another major award of the evening was Best of the Best Residential Development of the Year, which was won by Cosmopolis, one of the largest residential projects in Romania, developed by Opus Land Development in northern Bucharest which already has about 4,000 residents. The developer plans to attract 10,000 more residents on the 90 ha site over the next 7 years. The project Floreasca Park, developed by Portland Trust in the north of Bucharest, was acquired by GLL Romania last year, a transaction that earned the prize of Best of the Best Investment Transaction of the Year award.
Using a unique formula, each nomination passed a series of reviews and evaluations after which the top projects faced a stringent judging panel that finally chose the Best of the Best Winners of 2016. The CIJ Awards Europe prides itself on identifying what are truly the Best of the Best projects and rewarded the champions with the CIJ Awards brand of success trophy.
Guests at the gala evening in Prague experienced an Oktoberfest themed night with hosts and hostesses dressed in authentic Lederhosen and Dirndls. The delicious local food and beverages were served in personalized Steins. In addition to a variety of special surprises, guests also received a special gingerbread necklace as a commemorative gift. The guests were treated to a live Beatles revival band during the first hours of the night.
All winners of the Best of the Best CIJ Awards Europe will be celebrated each year in the Hall of Fame publication that is distributed around the globe to investors and tenants.
