The Panattoni Park Pilsen West II industrial zone, which is currently under construction, can look forward to its first tenant. The premises of 36,400 m2 of leasable area will be occupied by the American company Shape. It will move from Borské pole to the new hall and expand the production of deformation zones, which increase the safety of passengers in cars. The start of production is planned for the first half of the following year and up to 700 employees will work in full operation. The industrial complex that is being built by Panattoni – an expert in the environmentally friendly and sustainable construction, arises in the brownfield area after coal mines.
“We are very pleased that Shape, which has been a good and stable employer in the Pilsen region for years, became the first tenant in Panattoni Park Pilsen West II. The automotive industry is undergoing a revolution, but some disciplines will remain relevant even after the end of internal combustion engines. Undoubtedly, one of them is passenger safety. I firmly believe that the new hall will offer ideal premises for production and further growth of the entire company,” says Pavel Sovička, Panattoni’s General Manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
„Shape Corp. is a global manufacturer of crash-management components for the automotive industry. For several years in a row, we have received the award for the best employer of the year in the Pilsen region thanks to a unique corporate culture based on mutual respect, belonging, responsibility and constant development. Our goal is to build a great place to work and live and achieve our vision of reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2025. Shape Europe is experiencing rapid growth in its customer and product portfolio. The new plant in Nýřany will offer a safe and pleasant working environment for current and new employees. Panattoni is the right partner and a guarantee for achieving our goals,” says Stephenie Ducroux-Bernache, European Managing Director Shape Corp.
The modern hall will meet the strict requirements of the BREEAM New Construction environmental certification and will be characterized by a number of ecological and sustainable elements. The project is ready for the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of the building and will use rainwater for flushing. From the start of construction, the carbon footprint is calculated so that the investor can minimize the impact on the climate.
The area near Nýřany, which is located on a brownfield, boasts a rich industrial history. The Krimich mine opened here more than 150 years ago – the deepest coal mine in its time in the West Bohemian district. In the 1920s, Škoda built a thermal power plant here, which supplied its engineering plants in Pilsen, the town of Nýřany and a nearby ammunition factory. During the 1950s and 1960s, the Prefa concrete plant was located on the land. After the operation of the power plant in the 1950s and the closure of the shaft in 1971, the area was rebuilt into the Likon Nýřany food plant, which operated until the 1990s.
“The construction boom in the Pilsen region fully shows that the potential of the site for industrial production
and logistics is far from exhausted, especially for clients with higher added value. The region benefits from a rich industrial tradition, excellent transport infrastructure, a quality engineering base, the presence of a university and the geographical proximity of Germany. The new complex will thus complement our portfolio in the Pilsen region, which consists of the existing and under construction industrial zones Panattoni Pilsen Digital Park, Panattoni Park Pilsen City and Panattoni Pilsen Park West,” adds Jiří Zita, Panattoni Commercial Director.
