Government measures to provide support to the business community last year significantly reduced the number of insolvencies, so that the number of companies that went into insolvency was 5,564, 13 percent lower than the previous year, according to a Coface insolvency study.

“In 2020, the companies really benefited from support, but this support means extra debt, it was a positive thing because it immediately helped the flow of companies, but it essentially meant debt, we see an amount of RON 58 billion which were injected in various forms “, says Eugen Anicescu, Country Manager of Coface Romania.

At the same time, the insolvencies of large companies, with a turnover of more than EUR 0.5 million, reached only 301 in 2020, compared to 444 insolvencies in 2019.
