The government adopted a resolution on the development of social lease and assisted housing under the name “Apartment, work, community” for the years 2024-2030, the Government Information Centre (CIR) announced.
The actions will be addressed to Polish citizens, in particular people and families at risk of social exclusion or who are in a different difficult life situation, as well as to repatriates. The implementation of the program will also significantly reduce the risk of a possible occurrence of social and housing crisis, CIR further announced.
The programme includes, among others:
– increasing the stock of available affordable apartments for social rent, remaining at the disposal of local governments;
– increasing accessibility for people and families who are in a difficult life situation, to comprehensive services related to social housing, labour market, education and other social services;
– increasing the level of professional and social activity of people and families supported;
– increasing the effectiveness of cross-sectoral cooperation in the area of housing, the labour market and social affairs.
It is planned to integrate existing financial mechanisms that will be used to acquire a new housing pool, in particular through the Social Loan Agency (SAN).
SAN’s goal is, among other things, to increase the housing offer for people with medium and lower incomes. Additional dwellings may come from a pool of private apartments acquired by SAN in a long lease, as well as through, among others, renovations and modernizations in order to optimize maintenance costs in the premises. It is also about adaptations of vacancy for housing purposes.
SAN can additionally provide so-called social services, adequate to the needs of tenants, such as care services, assistant and others, which support the functioning of tenants with special needs, also are also given.
