The rapid expansion of the private medical sector is also reflected in real estate. The large networks of private medical clinics and hospitals in Bucharest currently occupy spaces with a total area of over 215,000 sqm, according to an analysis by the real estate services company iO Partners.
The rest of the areas occupied by the private medical sector, about 130,000 sqm, are rented in buildings outside the competitive stock or are located in buildings owned by the medical operators themselves.
“Private clinics and hospitals represent an important part of the office space stock, but come with complex specific requirements compared to a typical office space tenant. Not every space is suitable for such a service, so a detailed analysis must be carried out beforehand”, says Maria Florea, Head of Office Advisory within iO Partners Romania.
