After a year marked by a complete shutdown of the hospitality industry as a result of the health crisis, 2021 has seen a slight recovery, and the current year is also expected to see a slight increase compared to last year. Even in these conditions, the local hotel market estimates the launch of another 20 important hotel projects by the end of 2023, according to the Crosspoint Real Estate report “Romanian Hotel Market”.
“In Bucharest, after an ongoing renovation, the Athenee Palace Hilton will add another page to its long history by the end of the year. The same desire of the hotel owners to restore the unique charm of the old center of Bucharest led to the renovation of the Grand Hotel du Boulevard, its inauguration scheduled for next year. The same owner, Niro Investment Group, is to open the first hotel under the Swissôtel brand, located in the Expozitiei area, also in 2023,” says Ilinca Timofte, Head of Research, Crosspoint Real Estate.
“The list continues with Novotel Living, an aparthotel scheduled to open its doors in 2023. ibis Styles Bucharest Airport, in Otopeni, is the newest addition to Bucharest’s hotel stock in 2022. At the national level, the near future will mark the expansion of some existing brands , such as Mercure in Sibiu, Brașov and Iron Gates, Radisson in Cluj-Napoca or Ramada in Slatina”, Ilinca Timofte added.
