The government has set at RON 1.5 billion this year’s ceiling for guaranteeing real estate loans under the New Home program. The Minister of Finance, Adrian Câciu, said that he hopes that the ceiling will be finished by the middle of the year, so that it will then be supplemented by the Government.

Financing is granted in RON, for the purchase of a single home, and the maximum value of the credit that can be accessed is EUR 66,500 – for homes whose price is a maximum of EUR 70,000, the requested advance being 5 percent and EUR 119,000 – for homes of whose price is a maximum of EUR 140,000, in this case the requested advance is 15 percent.

Launched in 2009 under the initial name “First Home”, the government program has so far collected 330,875 guarantees and promises of guarantee given to those who have accessed the financing.
