The second section of metro D will cost CZK 30 billion, to be built by the Subterra association

The Board of Directors of the Prague Transport Company (DPP) today approved the winner of the tender for the second section of the D metro from Olbrachtova to Nové Dvory, the successful bidder being the association led by Subterra with a price of approximately CZK 30 billion excluding VAT. At the same time, the company’s management excluded the association of companies led by PORR from the tender due to fundamental deficiencies in the offer. The construction of the D metro started last year in the section between Pankráci and Olbrachtova.

According to DPP director Petr Witowski, a big battle broke out around the tender for the second section of the line, which will connect Pankrác with Písnice in the future. “Some practices are completely unacceptable to us. Instead of a fair competition, pressure is being exerted on members of the DPP Board of Directors, the DPP Supervisory Board or the Capital City Council. The members of the evaluation committee have even been threatened with e-mails under fictitious names,” he said. The company is considering further legal action.

The tender is being dealt with by the antitrust authority, which, according to Hospodářské noviny, decided in mid-July to cancel it because of the conditions set for the bidders. The company filed an appeal against the decision and cannot conclude a contract with the winner of the tender until the final decision is made, according to the authority.
