In the first three quarters of 2022, 21,031 new companies were registered in the Czech Republic, 5.5 percent less than in the comparable period last year. At the same time, this is the second lowest number in six years. The total number of companies in the Czech Republic exceeded 545,800. Current information was published today by the consulting company Dun & Bradstreet.
“The complicated and unpredictable events in the world that we are witnessing from 2020 have an impact on economic development all over the world. Increased business risks are one of the important reasons why entrepreneurs’ interest in starting a new business is lower than in previous years,” the analyst commented on the statistics Dun & Bradstreet Petra Štěpánová.
According to her, the slowing pace in the establishment of new companies is evident both in the year-on-year quarterly comparison and since the beginning of this year. While 8,026 new companies were created in the first quarter of this year, in the second it was 7,821. July was the weakest month for the time being in terms of the number of newly registered companies, followed by September and April, she added.
There are currently 27,107 joint stock companies and 518,696 limited liability companies in the Czech Republic. Although 21,031 new companies were founded this year, the total business base has grown by 15,095 since the end of 2021. “The market continues to clean up the business base, when, given the total number of newly registered entities, a relatively large number of them also disappear,” added Štěpánová.
