TMR to build entertainment park near Katowice

1 December 2014

The Slovak-based ski resort operator Tatry Mountain Resorts (TMR) is expanding. After investing in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the company is in talks to acquire an existing ski resort in the European Alps. It has also found a location for its first large entertainment park, which will compete with Italy’s Gardaland and Germany’s Europa-park. TMR head Bohuš Hlavatý says the park will be built in Veselé městečko between Chořov and Katowice. TMR will lease the 40 ha park for five years starting in 2015. Under the deal, TMR will have the option to take over the park if it invests €30m during that period. The investor wants to start redeveloping the park at the beginning of next year. TMR operates the Špindlerův Mlýn ski resort in the Czech Republic, as well as an aqua park near Brno. It also runs ski resorts and a hotel in the Tatras and a ski resort in Szczyrk, Poland.
