The project of the transport terminal in Kutná Hora may cost from tens of millions to a billion crowns. It will depend, among other things, on the extent to which it will take into account future development. The design and form of the terminal is now being discussed by the city’s representatives with the transport ministry, according to Mayor Lukáš Seifert (ODS).
“If we were talking about the whole in the ideal, we are talking about roughly CZK 1 billion. If we were talking about partial changes, we are talking about some acceptable values, for example CZK 50 million,” the mayor said. According to him, it also depends on who would like to enter the project, the possibility of involving a private partner.
The transport terminal is supposed to simplify travelling to the city and changing between trains and buses. It should be built at the Kutná Hora město train station, and a platform for buses can be built on adjacent land.
It is not yet clear when it could be built. “We are negotiating, we have the support of a number of important organisations. We are dealing with technical limits and technical requirements, we have them all in place. We are going to compete the study and we are dealing with follow-up things,” Seifert said. The design and appearance of the terminal should also take into account expected future developments, he said. “So that we don’t do something that won’t work in terms of capacity or layout,” the mayor added.
The public transport terminal has been discussed in Kutná Hora for a long time. There was also a study, but according to the current management, it did not respect the needs of transport operators. The project was supported by councillors in March, but the opposition demanded a public presentation. According to Seifert, it has not yet taken place because there is nothing to present at this stage.
Representatives of the town hall hope that the terminal will make travelling to Kutná Hora easier and revitalise the town centre. It will enable a so-called dry-foot transfer from bus to train, and it will also be connected to the Prague Integrated Transport. After the construction of the terminal, the existing bus station should be used temporarily for parking tourist buses; its further purpose will be discussed.
