Transprojekt is asking for a five-year extension to redevelop the Bratislava main train station into a commercial center. The company agreed with the city in 2007 that the new commercial and transport hub will be completed by the end of 2016 but has not yet broken ground on the project. Transprojekt CEO Igor Ballo has threatened to sue the city if it refuses to extend the term and says this could block the modernization of the main station and Predstanične square for years. The developer recently announced it secured Strabag to oversee the construction, while the Czech company Urban Developers and Investors (UDI) will finance the project. UDI has invested into shopping and mixed-use centers in Prague, Hradec Králové, Brno and Pardubice.
