Trivago: Athens among the cheapest cities of Europe

21 April 2016

Athens hotel prices showed a 15 percent increase in November 2015 compared to last year, with the average room rate reaching €91 compared to just €79 in November 2014, according to a survey carried out by Trivago. Despite the increase, Athens remains among the cheapest European capitals. Italy’s average room rate, for example, is €97, making Greek highly competitive. But Italy may be making ‘advances’ on this front, according to Trivago. Rome was one of the cities the company singled out as registering falls of between 20 to 30 percent cuts in their room rates compared to a year before. The others were Monaco, Madrid and Istanbul.
